On a late Sunday afternoon in Meridian, Idaho, a violent encounter in a parking lot cut short the life of 27-year-old Israel Castrejon Trejo of Nampa. The date was January 25, 2026, when multiple 911 calls flooded into the Meridian Police Department around 12:30 p.m., reporting a shooting near East Central Drive. When officers arrived at the scene near 195 E. Central Ave., they discovered Castrejon Trejo with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:38 p.m.
The alleged shooter, 23-year-old Jacob L. Streat, was still present when law enforcement arrived and was taken into custody. Investigators believe the tragic incident may have escalated from a road rage or traffic-related dispute. According to police, the two men approached each other in the parking lot before Streat allegedly fired more than a dozen rounds. It was later confirmed that Castrejon Trejo was not armed at the time of the altercation. The vehicles involved were identified by investigators as a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma.
Following his arrest, Jacob L. Streat was charged with felony second-degree murder. In his initial court appearance in Ada County, a judge set his bond at $2 million. The investigation into the motive for the shooting is ongoing, with authorities reviewing witness interviews and video evidence to piece together the events that led to the fatal confrontation.
