In the small community of Stillmore, near Twin City, Georgia, a family argument on the morning of Monday, January 26, 2026, ended in the tragic death of 35-year-old LaCorey White. First responders were called to a residence on the 400 block of 2nd Street around 10 a.m., where they discovered LaCorey White had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Emanuel County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to delve into the circumstances
surrounding the shooting. The investigation quickly identified LaCorey White's older brother, 44-year-old LaMarkius Tiwaun White of Vidalia, as the suspect. Investigators determined that LaMarkius shot his brother during the course of an argument.
Following the initial investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested LaMarkius White. He was subsequently booked into the Emanuel County Jail. LaMarkius has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. A first appearance hearing for him was held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the Emanuel County Superior Court. The investigation remains active and ongoing, and upon its completion, the case will be handed over to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution. An autopsy for LaCorey White is scheduled to be performed by the GBI Medical Examiner's Office in Pooler.
