In the quiet community of Greenacres, Florida, a tragic event unfolded on the morning of January 26, 2026, shattering the neighborhood's peace. Brianna Rodriguez-Quintana, a 25-year-old woman, was killed in a double murder-suicide. The incident, which was domestic in nature, also resulted in the death of 59-year-old Milvia Quintana-Placeres.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 7 a.m. in the 500 block of Shady Pine Way. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Brianna Rodriguez-Quintana deceased at the scene. Milvia Quintana-Placeres was found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect was identified as 60-year-old Juan Estevez-Mesa. Authorities reported that Estevez-Mesa, Rodriguez-Quintana, and Quintana-Placeres all resided in the same condominium unit where the shooting occurred. Following the shooting, Estevez-Mesa barricaded himself inside the residence. Despite attempts by law enforcement to make contact, he did not respond.
The PBSO SWAT Team was called to the scene to assess the situation. After determining that the suspect no longer posed a threat, detectives from the Violent Crimes Division executed a search warrant and found Estevez-Mesa deceased inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators have not released a motive for the killings. Authorities have emphasized that the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
