In the early hours of a Thursday morning in southeast Dallas, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a young man and his family. Christian Deon Campbell, a 21-year-old man, was discovered inside his vehicle, having been fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. on January 29, 2026, in the 7200 block of South Great Trinity Forest Way, near the Trinity Apartments.
Dallas police officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they found Campbell in his car, having succumbed to his injuries. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after, at approximately 12:45 a.m. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing several individuals fleeing the area immediately afterward. The preliminary investigation determined that Campbell had been shot while inside his vehicle.
In the wake of the shooting, the Dallas Police Department launched an investigation, which quickly led to the identification of four suspects. Four teenagers were subsequently arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Tommy Smith, and three 19-year-olds: Dataryven McGee, Deleon Reese, and Davien Mosley. All four have been charged with murder and were booked into the Dallas County Jail. The investigation into the motive behind the shooting is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released a motive.
