In the early morning hours of December 28, 2025, a sudden burst of violence in West Dallas ended the life of 19-year-old Juan Carlos Cardoza. The incident occurred at approximately 2:52 a.m. in the 1800 block of Sylvan Avenue, where officers responded to a shooting call. Upon arrival, they discovered Cardoza suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
