Conrad Michael Kuntz, a 17-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity from New Braunfels, Texas, tragically passed away on June 17, 2017. Conrad was known for his vibrant personality and his dedication to his school and sports. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend, excelling in swimming and enjoying activities like snowboarding and wakeboarding. His unexpected death deeply affected his family, friends, and the community.
The circumstances surrounding Conrad's death were investigated by
the New Braunfels Police Department. According to the investigation, Conrad was fatally shot during an altercation involving multiple suspects. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on June 17 in the 1500 block of Lahn Road. Conrad was found with a gunshot wound, and despite efforts by emergency medical services to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
Three suspects were eventually charged in connection with Conrad's murder. A 15-year-old male from Marion and a 16-year-old male from New Braunfels were both charged with murder and detained at the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center. Additionally, another 16-year-old male was charged with robbery related to the case. The suspects were believed to have met around the time of the incident, leading to the tragic altercation that resulted in Conrad's death.
The community came together to remember Conrad, holding a vigil and releasing balloons and candles in his honor. His family established the Conrad Kuntz Memorial Fund to honor his memory, and a pecan tree was planted near the Comal River where Conrad spent his summers lifeguarding.
Conrad's legacy lives on through the love and memories shared by those who knew him, and the ongoing efforts to seek justice for his untimely death.
