In the early hours of New Year's Day 2026, a gathering of friends in a rural Wolverton, Minnesota home took a tragic turn, ending the life of 22-year-old Jorden Boehm. The young man from Fargo, North Dakota, was fatally shot at a party, an event that would lead to the arrest of his acquaintance, 26-year-old Myron Allen Johanson.
The Wilkin County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a shooting at a residence on Highway 75 shortly before 1 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found Boehm deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck. Witnesses at the party described a harrowing scene, telling investigators that Johanson had been brandishing a handgun throughout the evening, at times pointing it at others and even himself.
According to witness accounts detailed in the criminal complaint, Johanson had approached another partygoer, pointed the gun at their head and asked, "Do you trust me?" to which the individual replied, "No, I do not." Shortly after, Johanson allegedly put the gun under Boehm's chin and posed the same question. The firearm then discharged. It was Johanson who ultimately called 911 after the shooting.
Johanson was arrested at the scene and was later charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The murder charge suggests an act that was eminently dangerous to others and performed with a "depraved mind," while the manslaughter charge points to culpable negligence creating an unreasonable risk. Johanson was booked into the Wilkin County Jail.
Jorden Boehm was remembered by his family and friends as a happy and helpful person who was passionate about cars and aspired to open his own auto shop. His parents described him as a positive individual who was making friends and doing well in his life after earning a mechanic's degree. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted the Wilkin County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
