Kristopher Pride, a 25-year-old Black man from Buffalo, was riding a bicycle along the city’s East Side on July 17, 2013, when gunfire ripped through the summer evening. It happened on the 100 block of Keystone Avenue near Walden and Bailey, just before 7:30 p.m., a stretch of street where the ordinary rhythm of neighborhood life was suddenly replaced by panic and the sharp urgency of a 911 call.
