In the winter of 2019, the life of Rene-Cameron Tucker, a 27-year-old Black man from Buffalo, New York, was tragically cut short. Two individuals, Dartwon Brooks and Jaemer Smith, were later implicated in obstructing the investigation. Both men ultimately pleaded guilty to charges related to their actions. Brooks faced a charge of criminal contempt, while Smith was charged with obstruction of justice and making false declarations before a grand jury. Their interference created significant hurdles in the pursuit of the individuals directly responsible for Tucker's death.
In an effort to generate new leads, Crime Stoppers Buffalo offered a reward of up to $7,500 for any information that would lead to the arrest or indictment of the person or persons responsible for the homicide.
