On March 19, 2017, 24-year-old Luis Flores was fatally shot on East Ferry Street near Bissell Avenue in Buffalo, New York. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack. The shooter, Kenyatta Austin, was later convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for the killing of Flores. Austin was already serving a life sentence for a separate crime involving the fatal shooting of two other victims. His sentence for Flores' death is being served concurrently with his previous conviction.
