In the autumn of 2015, the life of 29-year-old Jonathan O. Jones was tragically cut short in Buffalo, New York. On the evening of Thursday, October 22, 2015, Jones was the victim of a fatal shooting on Fillmore Avenue. A graduate of Lockport High School, he was a man who found joy in work, dance, and the company of his family. He harbored a dream of one day becoming a hip-hop dance instructor for the youth, a testament to his desire to serve as a mentor.
The investigation into the
untimely death of the male victim moved swiftly. Within days, the Buffalo Police Department had a break in the case. A 15-year-old male was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody. The teenage suspect was subsequently charged in connection with the shooting death of Jonathan Jones.
Following his arrest, the 15-year-old was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Due to the serious nature of the charges, the case was handled in the Youth Part of Erie County Court. Despite his age, the suspect was tried as an adult.
