In the early evening hours of January 3, 2026, the life of James Bushrod, a 55-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting that marked Baltimore's first homicide of the new year. The incident unfolded around 5:33 p.m. in the 700 block of North Patterson Park Avenue, a neighborhood just blocks from the Northeast Market. When Southeast District officers arrived at the scene, they found Mr. Bushrod suffering from a gunshot wound.
