In the early evening of January 5, 2026, the city of Charlotte recorded its first homicide of the new year. Kishmere Wright, a 24-year-old man, was fatally shot in the Enderly Park neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 3000 block of Carol Avenue, a residential street located near the intersection with Rose Street.
Emergency services, including paramedics, responded to the scene where they discovered Wright with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Wright was an alumnus of West Charlotte High School.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the shooting as a homicide. As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding a potential suspect or suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the CMPD Homicide Unit or Charlotte Crime Stoppers.
