In the heart of downtown Atlanta, on a Tuesday morning, the life of 19-year-old Mahlik Martin was tragically cut short. On January 6, 2026, at approximately 11:13 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers were dispatched to 130 Luckie Street SW following a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Martin with a fatal gunshot wound. Responding medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Officers at the scene were able to quickly detain a possible suspect.
The individual, later identified as 19-year-old Anthony Lane, was taken into custody by investigators with the Homicide Unit. Further investigation led to Lane being charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
Following his arrest, Anthony Lane was booked into the Fulton County Jail. While an arrest has been made, the circumstances that led to the shooting have not been released by the authorities. The investigation into the death of Mahlik Martin is ongoing as homicide detectives continue to piece together the events that transpired on that fateful morning on Luckie Street.
