In the late spring of 2020, a passionate and talented musician named Christopher Weaver, known to many as Bigg, tragically lost his life. On the evening of June 13th, the 25-year-old man was in the Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta when gunfire erupted. He was one of two people fatally shot during the incident. The shooting occurred during a large gathering on Mayson Avenue NE.
Emergency services were called to the chaotic scene around 5:45 p.m., where they found several people with
gunshot wounds. Weaver was transported to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. In the aftermath, his father, Eddie Weaver Jr., expressed his profound grief, stating, 'Parents should not be burying their children.'
Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department worked to identify the person responsible for the violence that also injured five other individuals. Their investigation led them to name 43-year-old Alfred White as the sole suspect in the killings of both Christopher Weaver and 17-year-old Semaj Jones. Surveillance images from the scene appeared to show a man exiting a black pickup truck before opening fire into the crowd.
However, before any charges could be filed or an arrest made, investigators learned that Alfred White had died. With the death of the only suspect, the Atlanta police announced that they did not anticipate charging anyone else in connection with the shooting. The case was brought to a close without a conviction, leaving the families of the victims to grapple with their loss.
