In the early morning hours of January 8, 2026, the life of Darryl Timothy Hines, a 38-year-old Black / African American male from Richmond, was tragically cut short in Henrico, Virginia. Just before 5 a.m., Henrico Police responded to a call about a suspicious situation in the 1400 block of Oakland Road in the Varina district. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr.
Hines lying in the roadway, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The Henrico Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives began canvassing the area and following up on leads, working to piece together the events that led to the violence.
