On the evening of January 8, 2026, in Rootstown Township, Ohio, a verbal altercation escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 40-year-old Bradley Goldner. Deputies from the Portage County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Biltz Road at approximately 10:07 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a dispute involving a firearm. Just two minutes later, a second 911 call reported the sound of three gunshots.
Upon entering the home, law enforcement discovered Mr.
Goldner and another man, identified as 31-year-old Andrew Carney, lying on the floor with apparent gunshot wounds. A firearm was found on the floor between them. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Portage County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths as a suspected murder-suicide. The case remains under investigation by the detective bureau. No arrests have been made as the incident is believed to involve only the two deceased individuals.
Bradley Goldner was a resident of Deerfield, Ohio, and worked as a plumber. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, class of 2003. He was known for his love of animals, motorcycles, and was a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse. He is survived by his daughter, his mother, and several siblings.
