On a tragic Monday afternoon in Boynton Beach, Florida, 72-year-old Richard Geragi's life was cut short in a violent encounter stemming from a significant financial betrayal. On January 12, 2026, Richard and his younger brother, Charles Geragi, 67, were fatally shot inside their office at All-American Farms Inc. on High Ridge Road. The brothers, both residents of Delray Beach, were well-regarded business owners in the community.
The events of that day unfolded around 4 p.m.
during a meeting with 39-year-old Nesar Dawla of West Palm Beach. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the potential repayment of millions of dollars that Nesar's brother, Sadman Dawla, had stolen from the Geragis' company. Sadman, a former accountant for All-American Farms, had been convicted in 2024 for embezzling over $5 million by writing hundreds of unauthorized checks. During the meeting to negotiate the return of the stolen funds, Nesar Dawla unexpectedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire on both brothers.
Immediately following the shooting, Dawla fled the scene in a white Cadillac SUV, sparking a police manhunt. Witnesses at the business park quickly identified the shooter to 911 dispatchers as the brother of the former employee convicted of fraud. A tip from a resident about a suspicious vehicle matching the description of Dawla's SUV led officers to his location. When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Dawla sped off, initiating a brief pursuit. The chase came to a dramatic and somber end when officers witnessed Dawla take his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, causing his vehicle to crash.
Investigators confirmed that Nesar Dawla was the sole suspect in the murders of Richard and Charles Geragi. While Nesar had been implicated in the initial fraud investigation, as some of the stolen checks were made out to him, there had been insufficient evidence to charge him at the time. His brother, Sadman Dawla, was scheduled for sentencing just days after the tragic shooting. The Boynton Beach Police Department has stated that there are no other suspects, and the community is not facing any further threat in relation to this case.
