A dispute between two men in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on the evening of January 13, 2026, tragically ended with the death of a six-month-old boy and a 25-year-old man. The infant, Marco Frazier Jr., was fatally wounded during an exchange of gunfire inside a residence on Gibson Street.
Authorities report that an argument between Marco Daveree Frazier, the infant's 30-year-old father, and Da'Mon Rice escalated into a violent confrontation.
Both men allegedly opened fire, and during the shootout, the infant and his mother, Malyasha Zeigler, were struck by bullets. The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His mother sustained a graze wound and was also transported for medical treatment.
Following the shooting, Rice fled the scene in a gray Honda. He was later found deceased inside the vehicle at the intersection of Summer and Amelia streets from an apparent gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Later that evening, Marco Frazier Sr. turned himself in to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety for questioning.
In connection with the double homicide, Marco Frazier Sr. has been arrested and booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center. He is facing a litany of charges, including two counts of murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a pistol by a convicted felon. The investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing.
