In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving, November 28, 2025, a violent encounter in Davenport, Iowa, claimed the life of 44-year-old male Damien Timothy Howard Sr., also known affectionately as "Dae Dae." The incident occurred outside the Chill Vibez Lounge, located in the 100 block of Myrtle Street, where police were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. following reports of shots fired.
When first responders arrived at the chaotic scene, they discovered that firearms had been discharged into a group of people in the parking lot. Damien Howard Sr. was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound and was rushed to a local hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries.
The tragedy was compounded by the death of Damien's 23-year-old son, Dane E. Howard, who was also struck by gunfire during the same altercation. Investigators learned that Dane had been transported from the scene to a hospital in a private vehicle, but he too succumbed to his wounds. A third male victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot injury and was treated at a hospital. Damien Howard Sr. was remembered as a devoted family man who loved old-school automobiles and music, leaving behind a wife and several children and grandchildren.
Davenport detectives moved quickly to apprehend those believed to be responsible for the double homicide. By 9:30 p.m. on the night of the shooting, police arrested two suspects: 21-year-old Raymond L. Robinson Jr. and 36-year-old Danny W. Howard Jr. According to arrest affidavits, the two men allegedly deliberately fired pistols in the direction of at least four people in the lounge's parking lot. Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Scott County Jail.
Prosecutors charged both Robinson and Danny Howard Jr. with two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and one count of going armed with intent. Following their arrest, they were held on a $500,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing was held on December 5, 2025, where a judge found probable cause to proceed with the case, and an arraignment was subsequently scheduled for December 18, 2025, in Scott County court.
