In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 7, 2025, a violent confrontation erupted at a residence on Main Street in Charleston, West Virginia, resulting in the tragic death of 31-year-old male Joshua Walls. Officers from the Charleston Police Department were dispatched to the home around 2:00 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Walls suffering from critical gunshot wounds to his torso. Emergency responders transported him to CAMC General Hospital, but despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The investigation quickly revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving the victim and two acquaintances who had arrived at his home that night. According to court documents and police statements, the argument allegedly began over a debt of $40 and a disagreement regarding synthetic marijuana.
The verbal altercation escalated rapidly when a firearm was produced, leading to Walls being shot in the abdomen. Surveillance footage recovered from the scene reportedly captured two individuals entering the residence before the sound of gunfire was recorded.
Authorities identified two suspects in connection with the homicide: 33-year-old Jack Rolfe and 25-year-old Brennon Michael Adkins, both residents of St. Albans. Rolfe, who had initially fled the scene in a white Ford Fusion, turned himself in to police the following Tuesday. During questioning, he allegedly claimed that while he had been present during the altercation, it was Adkins who pulled the trigger. Following this development, Adkins was also apprehended and taken into custody.
Both men now face serious charges related to the incident. Jack Rolfe has been charged with first-degree murder, while Brennon Adkins faces charges of both first-degree and second-degree murder. As the legal proceedings commenced, both suspects were ordered held without bond, with Rolfe detained at the South Central Regional Jail and Adkins held at the Western Regional Jail as they await trial for their alleged roles in the slaying of Joshua Walls.
