On the morning of December 9, 2025, officers from the Wilmington Police Department responded to a distress call at the Hanover Landing Apartments, located at 3427 Wilshire Boulevard in Wilmington, North Carolina. The call, received shortly before 11 a.m., reported shots fired within one of the units at the residential complex. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials entered the apartment to conduct a welfare check and investigate the source of the disturbance.
Inside the residence, they discovered two individuals who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The deceased were identified as 46-year-old female Eureka McDonald and 40-year-old male Delonte Reed. Investigators quickly secured the area and began examining the evidence, which led them to classify the tragedy as a domestic violence-related murder-suicide.
