On a cold December day in Buffalo, New York, the life of 61-year-old Lewis Browning, a Black/African American male, was brought to a brutal and tragic end. On December 17, 2014, Browning was viciously attacked on Titus Street. The assault was carried out by Wayne Wilson, who first struck Browning in the head with a brick. The violence did not stop there; Wilson proceeded to beat him with a hockey stick and then stabbed him, inflicting fatal injuries.
The investigation into the savage
killing led authorities to Wayne Wilson, a man with a history of violent crime. In July of the following year, the then 37-year-old Wilson was arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder for Browning's death. At the time of this charge, Wilson was already facing a pending indictment for a separate robbery. This painted a picture of a persistent violent felony offender, as he had previous convictions for robbery in 1997 and attempted robbery in 2003.
In March 2016, to resolve both the murder and the separate robbery charge, Wilson pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree for the killing of Lewis Browning and robbery in the first degree for the other crime. On April 26, 2016, the now 39-year-old Wayne Wilson was sentenced for his crimes. A judge handed down a sentence of 20 years to life in prison, ensuring that the man responsible for the violent death of Lewis Browning would be held accountable for his actions.
