On Dec. 13, 2025, Ella Cook, a 19-year-old woman, was killed when gunfire erupted inside a classroom on Brown University’s campus in Providence, Rhode Island. What began as an ordinary end-of-semester Saturday collapsed into panic as students scattered and called for help; nine other people were wounded as the campus and surrounding streets filled with sirens and flashing lights.
