On the evening of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred at a gas station on the North Side of San Antonio, Texas. Officers from the San Antonio Police Department responded to the scene at a 7-Eleven in the 4100 block of Vance Jackson Road around 8:00 p.m. Upon their arrival, they located Kyle Wayne Parnell, a 35-year-old man, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired from inside a black Toyota truck parked at the fuel pumps.
Parnell had exited the passenger side of the vehicle and attempted to walk toward the store to summon help before collapsing on the pavement.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. In the wake of the incident, Parnell’s mother, Shawna Farnsworth, shared that her son was a father to a 12-year-old boy. She stated that she received a frantic phone call from Parnell's girlfriend, who was reportedly present in the truck at the time of the shooting, informing her that he had been shot.
The black Toyota truck fled the scene immediately following the violence, sparking a search by local authorities. The following day, police in Universal City arrested a male suspect believed to be the shooter. At the time of his apprehension, he was taken into custody on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, though formal murder charges had not yet been filed pending further investigation. Family members have publicly alleged that the girlfriend may have communicated with the shooter before he drove away, but detectives continue to examine the evidence and witness statements to determine the full scope of the events.
