On the evening of December 18, 2025, a family’s commute home in Dallas, Texas, turned into a tragedy at the 8th & Corinth DART station. Erin LaJames Graham, a 28-year-old male, was waiting at the station with his fiancée and her three children after they had finished their workday. The group was preparing to head home when they were approached by two young men walking past them.
The encounter began with a brief verbal exchange that quickly escalated.
According to police reports, 18-year-old Demetrius Rogers and his brother walked by the family, at which point Rogers uttered the phrase "excuse me." Graham reportedly responded with "excuse you." Investigators stated that this reply offended Rogers' brother, causing both parties to stop and assume fighting stances. During this confrontation, Rogers allegedly drew a firearm and shot Graham in the chest in front of his fiancée and stepchildren.
Emergency responders transported Graham to Methodist Hospital of Dallas, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Authorities arrived at the scene and were able to locate the suspect based on descriptions provided by witnesses. Demetrius Rogers was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder, a first-degree felony. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Dallas County Jail where he was held without bond as the investigation continued into the fatal dispute.
