In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025, a violent incident unfolded along Interstate 73 South in Greensboro, North Carolina. At approximately 12:52 a.m., Greensboro police officers were dispatched to a location on the highway just prior to the West Wendover Avenue exit, identified as Exit 102. Upon their arrival at the scene, first responders discovered a vehicle containing two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Among them was 28-year-old male Lavon Montreaz Bennett, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries consistent with the shooting.
Emergency medical personnel immediately transported Bennett by ambulance to a local hospital for urgent treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical facility. Inside the same vehicle, authorities found a woman who had also been shot. She was taken to the hospital for care, where medical professionals determined her injuries were non-life-threatening.
