On the evening of December 22, 2025, officers from the Austin Police Department responded to a distress call at a residence located in the 10400 block of O'Rourk Lane in southwest Austin, Texas. The emergency communication center received a report around 5:19 p.m. from a woman stating that a shooting had occurred inside the home involving her father and her son.
Upon arrival at the scene in the Circle C neighborhood, law enforcement personnel entered the dwelling and discovered two adults suffering from gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation by homicide detectives determined that a verbal altercation had taken place between the two family members inside the residence. This dispute escalated rapidly, resulting in an exchange of gunfire where both individuals shot one another. Authorities identified the elder victim as Charles Wagnon, a 79-year-old White male, and the second individual as his 20-year-old grandson, Trevor Shepherd. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders, marking the city's 53rd and 54th homicides of the year.
Police categorized the incident as a double homicide resulting from a domestic dispute. Because both the primary aggressor and the victim died during the exchange, there were no subsequent arrests or charges filed in connection with the case. Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the area and interviewed witnesses to confirm the sequence of events, concluding that the violence was contained within the home and involved no external suspects.
