On the afternoon of December 23, 2025, a violent confrontation occurred in the 1000 block of Martin Avenue in West Toledo, Ohio, resulting in the death of 35-year-old Michael Partin. Toledo police officers were dispatched to the scene near Lewis Avenue around 2:00 p.m. following reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Partin unresponsive in the roadway.
Investigation details suggest that an argument had taken place at the doorway of a residence before shots were fired. After sustaining a gunshot wound, Partin reportedly moved away from the home and collapsed in the street.
Emergency medical personnel transported the wounded man to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center for urgent care. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 3:30 p.m. that same day. A subsequent autopsy performed by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the torso and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Partin, a male resident of the area and owner of a local business, was identified as the victim shortly after the incident.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, police at the scene detained an individual believed to be the shooter. However, investigators later clarified that no arrests had been made and no charges were filed in connection with the homicide at that time. Authorities have not publicly released the name of the person initially detained or specified the nature of the dispute that led to the gunfire. The investigation remains active, with detectives urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Crime Stopper program.
