On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 24, 2025, a violent incident unfolded at the Greens Condominiums situated on PGA Boulevard near Oak Ridge Road in Orlando, Florida. Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at the complex around 2:30 p.m. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered 17-year-old male Jamar Jerome suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the location, marking a tragic beginning to the holiday weekend which saw a series of violent events involving teenagers across Central Florida.
Detectives immediately launched a homicide investigation to identify those responsible for the fatal shooting. By the evening of Friday, December 26, law enforcement officials had tracked a person of interest to the Buchanan Bay Apartments, located near the intersection of Holden Avenue and South Texas Avenue. As deputies approached the area around 9:40 p.m. to locate the suspect, the situation escalated rapidly when an individual associated with the suspect opened fire on the officers, striking a patrol vehicle.
Deputies returned fire, wounding the armed assailant, who was described as a man in his early 20s. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for surgery. During the chaotic exchange, the primary homicide suspect, identified only as a 19-year-old male, was successfully taken into custody. Investigators confirmed that while the 19-year-old was armed at the time of his arrest, he did not fire his weapon during the confrontation. He was detained for questioning regarding his alleged involvement in the death of Jamar Jerome.
