On the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2025, officers with the Mamou Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Ninth Street after reports of gunfire in the small Evangeline Parish town of Mamou, Louisiana. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck; he was later identified as Kiyochi A. Shaw, a 41-year-old Black/African American male from Mamou.
