On the night of November 23, 2025, Albany police were called to reports of gunfire behind a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in the 1000 block of West Gordon Avenue, near the 700 block of South Slappey Boulevard in Albany, Georgia. When officers arrived sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., they found an unresponsive person behind the store who was later identified as Quintravion Carter, a 20-year-old Black male. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and despite efforts at the scene, he was pronounced dead there. Local reporting noted that his killing was counted as Albany’s 16th homicide of the year, underscoring a troubling pattern of deadly violence in the city.
Investigators with the Albany Police Department opened a homicide investigation and publicly appealed for information from anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in or around the rear of the store that night.
