On the morning of November 24, 2025, Jackson police were called to the 5700 block of Gault Street after reports of a shooting. Officers arrived around 8:27–8:30 a.m. and found Andrew Knight Jr, a 49-year-old man, lying on the front porch of a home that authorities described as his residence. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, with Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones publicly identifying him as the victim later that day.
