On the night of November 26, 2025, Eddie Washington Jr., a 40-year-old man from Syracuse, was fatally shot on the city’s Near Westside. Police later confirmed that he was the victim found outside the James Geddes Housing complex after a burst of gunfire was detected in the neighborhood. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Tully Street at about 9:36 p.m. in response to a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple shots fired.
