In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a dispute that began over stolen firearms escalated into a fatal encounter, claiming the life of 43-year-old Bonita Bunz Tawacin Keeble. The incident, which unfolded on November 4, 2025, at an apartment complex near 43rd and Larch, was the culmination of a series of events that had begun earlier in the evening.
According to court documents, the conflict started after shots were reportedly fired, leading to 18-year-old
Kray Bluebird and a juvenile being ejected from an apartment without their weapons. In the hours that followed, a tense text exchange ensued, during which Bluebird allegedly threatened to 'shoot their crib up.' The situation turned deadly when Bluebird reportedly forced his way into the apartment and opened fire with a rifle.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Bonita Keeble on the kitchen floor with a significant amount of blood loss. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. An initial autopsy revealed that Keeble had succumbed to a gunshot wound to her pelvic region. Another woman who was present in the apartment was also injured during the shooting, sustaining a gunshot wound to her hand while hiding in a closet.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a nearby apartment where Bluebird was located and taken into custody. The rifle used in the shooting was later determined to have been stolen from a vehicle in the vicinity. Bluebird has since been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and multiple other offenses related to the incident. He is currently being held on a one million dollar bond.
