On a Friday evening in early November 2025, Terry M. Grovesnor, a 29-year-old Black man from nearby Irvington, New Jersey, was caught in a burst of gunfire along Central Avenue in neighboring East Orange. As commuters and residents moved through the early evening bustle around 6:30 p.m., shots rang out near the 300 block of the busy corridor, not far from 393 Central Avenue.
