Faustino Alamo Dominguez, a 63-year-old man, was fatally shot on November 8, 2025, during a brazen armed robbery at his family's jewelry store in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. The violent encounter also claimed the life of his 25-year-old son, Luis Angel Alamo. The tragedy unfolded at approximately 5:49 p.m. at Hoyeria Anelos, located on the 3800 block of West 26th Street.
The incident began when a man entered the store, produced a firearm, and began stealing jewelry.
After the robber exited the establishment, Faustino and his son followed him outside to confront him. The ensuing struggle moved from the sidewalk into the street. Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the moment the assailant, described as a Black man in his 20s or 30s wearing a black hoodie and jeans, opened fire on both father and son.
Following the shooting, the gunman escaped in a white SUV that was waiting nearby, heading south on Springfield Avenue. Faustino Alamo Dominguez and his son were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where they were both pronounced dead. Investigators at the scene recovered approximately a dozen shell casings and some of the stolen jewelry scattered in the street.
The Chicago Police Department has since released surveillance images of two suspects they are working to identify in connection with the double homicide. Area 4 detectives are actively investigating the case, gathering witness statements and reviewing video evidence, but the gunman remains at large. The Little Village community has been left reeling from the loss of the two men, who were remembered as a hardworking immigrant family who had built their business from the ground up. In the wake of the shooting, a memorial of candles and flowers has grown outside the closed jewelry store. A reward of $10,000 has been offered by Cook County Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to an arrest.
