Death by Force

Na’Uosha Johnson-Chavis, a 27-year-old Black woman, was shot during a confrontation outside an apartment at 1900 Washington Avenue in Knoxville on October 23, 2025, and died shortly after arriving at UT Medical Center. Police said officers were called around 1:15 p.m. and found that the gunfire erupted amid a dispute involving two men, with the single round striking Johnson-Chavis in the head. Her death was recorded the same day and memorialized by local records of gun-violence victims.
