In the late hours of October 24, 2025, the life of 19-year-old Kimora McGinnies, a Black/African American female, was tragically cut short by gun violence in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Just before 11:45 p.m., authorities responded to a call at a residence in the 4500 block of Anspach Street, where they found McGinnies suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of medical responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Clark County Coroner's Office later confirmed her identity and determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the torso, ruling it a homicide.
According to family members, McGinnies was attending a Halloween party with her best friend. They were reportedly heading back into the party when a group of men in ski masks appeared and began shooting. One of the bullets struck Kimora. The North Las Vegas Police Department detectives investigating the case stated that the shooter or shooters had fled the scene before officers arrived.
In the days following the shooting, no arrests were announced, and the suspect or suspects remained at large. Law enforcement described the incident as a single-victim shooting inside a residence and appealed to the public for any information that could help them piece together the events leading up to the gunfire. Police urged anyone with information to contact the North Las Vegas Police Department or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of Nevada.
Loved ones remembered Kimora, a young mother to a one-year-old son, as a kind and joyful person who was full of life and loved her family deeply. Her family expressed their heartbreak and demanded answers, stating that she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. With her 20th birthday just a month away on November 26th, her life was taken before she had the chance to celebrate it. In the wake of her death, the community came together to support her family, organizing a fundraiser to assist with funeral costs and the care of her young son as investigators continued their search for those responsible.
