Arianna Bosby, 26, a Black woman, was sitting in a car on Chicago’s South Side late in the afternoon of Monday, October 27, 2025, when gunfire erupted along the 7600 block of South Vincennes Avenue near 76th Street. Police said shots came from another vehicle; the attack unfolded just before 5 p.m., on a commercial stretch that includes a McDonald’s in the West Chatham–Greater Grand Crossing area.
Paramedics rushed her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was first listed in critical condition and later pronounced dead. Records show she was identified by the Cook County medical examiner, and authorities listed her residence as Normal, Illinois.
Detectives opened a homicide investigation and canvassed the area after the shooting, but police reported that no one was in custody in the immediate aftermath. Officials did not release a motive, and they did not publicly identify a suspect or describe the shooter’s vehicle beyond noting that the shots were fired from another car. In the days that followed, public memorial pages recognized her death and echoed that no arrests had been announced.
