On the night of October 6, 2025, in Waterbury, Connecticut, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragic act of violence that claimed the life of 51-year-old Carlene Williams, a Black/African American woman. Williams and her former husband, 55-year-old Marc Adams, were found shot to death inside a home on Beverly Avenue. When police arrived at the residence, they discovered both Williams and Adams with gunshot wounds and pronounced them dead at the scene.
The investigation into the double
homicide quickly centered on a family member. Authorities arrested 25-year-old Javian Adams, the son of Williams and Marc Adams, in connection with the killings. He was subsequently charged with murder with special circumstances, among other firearm offenses. The incident reportedly stemmed from a heated argument over finances. Investigators believe the argument, which was partially captured by nearby surveillance audio, was the culmination of long-simmering tensions within the household.
According to reports, Javian Adams had a history of domestic violence and was on probation at the time of the shooting. Following the incident, he fled the scene in a white Ford Escape, which was later found abandoned. Law enforcement officials were able to track him to the nearby town of Watertown, where he was taken into custody near Lake Winnemaug. He remains the primary suspect in the deaths of his parents.
