In the early morning hours of October 7, 2025, the life of 30-year-old Mercedes Harris was tragically cut short in Grenada, Mississippi. Officers from the Grenada Police Department were dispatched to West Pecan Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Harris, a male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response of paramedics, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grenada County Coroner.
The investigation into the homicide led to a swift arrest. Jarvis Terrell Anderson, a 29-year-old resident of West Pecan Street, was taken into custody on the same day as the shooting. He has since been charged with First-Degree Murder in connection with the death of Mercedes Harris.
Following his arrest, Anderson was booked into the Grenada County Jail, where he is being held without bond. The Grenada Police Department has stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing as they continue to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
