Devione Brady, a Black male, age 21, died on October 9, 2025, in Springfield, Illinois, one of three people found shot inside a home in the 3000 block of Hoover Avenue. The Sangamon County Coroner identified Brady alongside two other victims—Mhynesha Day, 22, and nine-year-old Cash Russell—and preliminary autopsy findings determined all three died from gunshot wounds. In an update nearly a week after the killings, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office said interviews indicated Brady was not a resident of the Hoover Avenue home and had no known affiliation with its occupants. Detectives continued to analyze evidence and pursue leads to understand why he was there and what role, if any, he may have had in the events preceding the shooting.
