Jonathan J.W. 'Jon' Floyd, a 55-year-old male resident of Perry, Missouri, was found fatally injured on October 12, 2025, following a shooting in rural Ralls County near Monroe City. Authorities initiated a homicide investigation that quickly directed them to a residence in the nearby town of Paris, Missouri, in search of a person of interest connected to the incident.
Law enforcement officers, including deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrived at a home on West Monroe Street in Paris later that same Sunday. Upon their arrival, they encountered two women at the residence, identified as 78-year-old Lois Armour and 51-year-old Patty Armour. The women reportedly told the officers that the suspect, 57-year-old Charles W. Armour, was not at the location. However, when authorities entered the home to conduct a search, they discovered Charles Armour concealing himself in a bathroom armed with a weapon.
A violent exchange of gunfire ensued between the suspect and the law enforcement officers. During the shootout, Charles Armour was struck and killed. A Randolph County Sheriff’s deputy, Nate West, was also shot and seriously injured during the confrontation. Deputy West was transported to a hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries and was later expected to make a full recovery.
Lois Armour and Patty Armour were subsequently taken into custody. While they were initially arrested and held on bonds for hindering the prosecution of a felony, the charges were later upgraded. In November 2025, prosecutors formally charged both women with second-degree felony murder, alleging that their deception regarding Charles Armour's presence directly contributed to the deadly sequence of events. They were ordered to be held without bond at the Randolph County Jail.
Jon Floyd was remembered by his community as an avid outdoorsman who cherished deer and turkey hunting and fishing. He had spent much of his life working as a farmer and was employed as a machine operator at Perry Machine and Die at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife, Candace, as well as his children and numerous grandchildren.
