Dan’Quariahz Redd, a 19-year-old Black man, left Hopewell on the night of October 12, 2025, and ended up on Brandywine Drive in Prince George County—an ordinary neighborhood turned suddenly frantic by the crack of gunfire. Just before 11 p.m., police rushed to the 4000 block after calls reporting shots fired, and they found him wounded. He was pronounced dead there at the scene, the investigation beginning under streetlights and flashing patrol strobes as officers locked down the area and tried to piece together what had just happened.
In the hours that followed, neighbors described a moment that felt both abrupt and senseless: they said he was a friend of their son who had been visiting, and that he was sitting in his car, about to drive away, when he was suddenly shot. People nearby tried to help before it was too late—good Samaritans, the neighbors said, using a T-shirt to try to stop the bleeding as the reality of the scene set in. Detectives returned the next morning, re-walking the area, collecting forensic evidence, and interviewing witnesses, while police urged anyone who knew something—no matter how small—to come forward as leads were chased and timelines rebuilt.
For weeks, the case remained a homicide with more questions than answers, until arrests finally broke the silence nearly two months later. On December 12, 2025, investigators announced that five suspects had been taken into custody, including four teenagers, and that the shooting was being treated as a robbery case that turned deadly.
Police said Shirazi Massaun Harrington, 22, of Chester, was charged with aggravated murder, armed robbery resulting in death, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Jarius Ezikel Day, 18, of Hopewell, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in death. Authorities also charged two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old with armed robbery, second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and brandishing. All five were reported to be held without bond as the investigation continued, with police still seeking information to clarify roles, motives, and what exactly unfolded in those final moments on Brandywine Drive.
