Jason Lamar Neal, 41, male, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of October 19, 2025, in a parking lot along the 4600 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina. Off-duty officers working nearby heard the crack of gunfire around 1:25 a.m. and rushed to the lot, where they found Neal gravely wounded; MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.
The killing capped a violent 24-hour span in the city and drew homicide detectives, crime scene technicians, and victim services personnel to the scene before dawn.
As investigators pieced together what happened, the location came into clearer focus for residents: the shooting unfolded outside the honky-tonk nightlife hub Coyote Joe’s, a well-known venue off Wilkinson Boulevard where off-duty officers were already present for security work. The scene emptied in a flurry of fleeing cars after the shots, leaving detectives to work the expanding ring of shell casings and interviews in the cooling dark.
By later that same day, detectives said they had identified a suspect. Officers located 44-year-old Andre Tyrell Walker and took him into custody in CMPD’s North Division. After an interview at the Law Enforcement Center, Walker was booked into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder. Police publicly confirmed Neal’s identity and next-of-kin notification in the same case update, and emphasized that the investigation remains active.
Authorities framed the killing as part of a grim string of weekend homicides across Charlotte, urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
