On a cold Tuesday evening in Tucumcari, New Mexico, the life of a beloved community member, 62-year-old Caucasian female Joan Vance, was tragically cut short. On January 20, 2004, while finishing her shift at the Sundowner Gallery, a gift shop where she worked, Vance became the victim of a violent robbery. The mother of three was attacked by an unknown assailant near closing time. She had plans to meet her daughter that evening but never arrived.
