In the early evening of Wednesday, October 22, 2025, a fatal altercation unfolded at an apartment complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robert Detiege, a 38-year-old male, was inside a residence on Longridge Avenue when an argument escalated into gunfire. Police were dispatched to the scene around 5:15 p.m. and upon their arrival, they discovered Detiege had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect, 23-year-old Joshua Richardson. After initially fleeing the apartment complex, Richardson later turned himself in to the authorities. He was subsequently arrested in connection with the death of Robert Detiege.
Following his arrest, Joshua Richardson was charged with one count of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. The motive for the shooting is believed to have been the argument that occurred between Richardson and Detiege just prior to the fatal shot being fired. The case is now proceeding through the criminal justice system.
