Caylen Fritz, 22, a Black male, was spending the long holiday weekend in Dallas’ Deep Ellum when a late-night dispute between two groups spilled across a Canton Street parking lot and erupted into gunfire. Around 2:20–2:25 a.m. on July 5, 2025, officers were flagged down near South Good Latimer Expressway as panicked crowds ran from the scene.
