Death by Force

On May 17, 2025, Dreshaun Lamarr Pruden, age 32, a male from Newport News, was shot inside the Family Fare convenience store located at a BP gas station on the 600 block of J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. Police officers responded around 9:20 p.m. and found Dreshaun Pruden suffering from at least one gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified the business location and time of the attack soon after, and asked the public for information as the investigation began.
